Bacon Festival

Ellijay Bacon Fest was created to hold an event that allowed our community to gather for the love of bacon while helping raise awareness and money for local charities/organizations.

This delicious event also gives local restaurants, chefs, artists and businesses exposure as well as provides an opportunity to give back to the community where they live and work.

How much is admission into the event?

Admission is free

How much is parking?

Event parking will be handled by various organizations. They may have a small fee or ask for a donation.

Can I bring my dog?

While we love our fur babies, service dogs only please!

How do I sign up for the bacon eating contest?

Go to the Destination Bacon Booth #2 and complete a waiver and pay the entry fee.

What are the event hours?

10am – 5pm. (Hours have been published incorrectly by other websites – please go by what the official Ellijay Bacon Fest website states).

Will the event be re-scheduled if it rains?

No, the event is rain or shine!

Where can we stay in Ellijay if we want to spend the night/weekend?

About the Ellijay Bacon Fest

■ The Ellijay Bacon Fest is a Non-Profit/501c3 organization
■ Last year over $10,000 was raised and 1,447 pounds of canned goods were donated
■ Last year attendance was 5,000+. We project an even bigger crowd this year

The Shack of Ellijay

• Abbey & Tara Prieto opened The Shack in November 2019
• Locally owned & operated in a quaint setting serving Asian Fusion Poke and Ramen bowls
• Abbey & Tara also own/operate Cartecay River Pizza and Jerry’s General Store

Destination Bacon

• Irene Witt has lived in Gilmer County since 1999 (local realtor & runs a building company with her husband, Matthew)
• Irene launched Destination Bacon (YouTube channel) in March of 2019
• The channel features restaurant reviews, bacon recipes and bacon festivals
